SC: seized grenades and a mine from the “Jehovah’s Witnesses” detained in Kirov
Five followers of “Jehovah’s Witnesses” were detained in the Kirov region, literature, two grenades and a mine were seized during searches, according to the Investigation Committee.
The detainees are accused of organizing the activities of a religious association recognized as extremist (part 1 of article 282.2 of the Criminal Code) and of financing extremist activity (part 1 of article 282.3 of the Criminal Code).
According to the investigators, the detainees spread the ideology of Jehovah’s Witnesses, “organized in various apartments a meeting of followers and participants of the said association, observing the actions typical for the association, expressed in joint singing of biblical songs, improving the skills of missionary work, and studying religious literature.”
Also, according to SC, the defendants collected 500 thousand rubles as donations from followers of a religious organization, and the money was sent to rent premises, arrange meetings and purchase equipment.
