Moscow. October 9th INTERFAX.RU – The investigating authorities opened a criminal case on the fact of work in the Kirov region of the banned religious organization “Jehovah’s Witnesses”.

The regional office of the TFR informs that five adherents of a religious organization are currently detained; activities (h. 1 Article. 282.3 of the Criminal Code). During the searches, a large amount of extremist literature was withdrawn from the detainees, as well as two grenades and a mine.

According to the regional headquarters of the TFR, five local residents from August 16, 2017 to the end of September this year, organized meetings for members of a religious association in Kirov and the region. In addition, they collected more than 500 thousand rubles from their followers, some of which went to pay for the rental of premises, and some were transferred to the leaders of the “Jehovah’s Witnesses” Administrative Center in Russia ”.

On April 20, 2017, the Moscow Supreme Court, at the request of the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation, recognized the Russian “Jehovah’s Witnesses” as an extremist organization and banned its activities in Russia.
