“Examine Jehovah’s Witness abuse”

The official counseling center for sects in our country, the IACSSO, has asked the Chamber of Deputies to set up a parliamentary inquiry committee to investigate the sexual abuse of minors among Jehovah’s Witnesses. This is what the Flemish daily De Morgen writes. The federal prosecutor’s office has also been informed, but no official investigations have been started yet.

The sect observatory IACSSO is an independent center of the Ministry of Justice. In the past year, this service received “several direct and indirect testimonials” about abuse among Jehovah’s Witnesses, it is said. It’s about people who claim to have suffered as a child sexual violence among Jehovah’s Witnesses.

The ball had a year ago messages to the Dutch Foundation Reclaimed Voices started rolling. A total of 286 testimonies were received. Last month, the Dutch judiciary searched churches and homes of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

The sect observatory is now requesting the establishment of a parliamentary committee of inquiry in Belgium. The testimonies of child abuse should be of the kind that they should be further investigated. (Belga)
