The Jehovah’s Witnesses will pass an ‘antiabusos’ course for minors in Barcelona

The 2017 Nursing School will teach cult pastors how to deal with complaints of sexual assault

The pastors of the Jehovah’s Witnesses will pass an anti-abuse course for minors. The 2017 School for the Elderly starts next Monday in the Assembly Hall of Sant Quirze del Vallès (Barcelona) in order to teach the elderly, the people who lead a congregation, to deal with the alleged sexual aggressions against minors. The sessions will disseminate the instructions sent by the Witnesses’ headquarters in the United Kingdom about sexual crimes with children within the denomination, whose publication was published by Crónica Global .

The guidelines, which ignore the direct denunciations to the security forces and invite to solve the cases internally, will now reach Spain. They will do it through the Schools of Elders, which will be attended by invitation.

Journalists, no

The clinic of the millenarian cult will not be open. The dome of the denomination warns that the entry will not be allowed to journalists or base members, the so-called publishers.

Local elders who can enter the Hall will hear instructors appointed by the national headquarters of the Jehovah’s Witnesses. These professors will be mostly circuit superintendents or members of the national headquarters and their task will be to transmit the reformed policy of protection to children of the religious group, which in Spain has more than 111,000 followers.

Before, attendees should show their invitations and accreditations at the door to avoid unwanted intrusions in the training sessions.

Internal communication

It should be recalled that the new policy for the protection of minors of the Witnesses, communicated on January 1 by the headquarters of London, introduces some changes in the procedures of instruction in these cases.

The dome of the denomination now asks that two elders communicate immediately to the legal department any case or complaint of abuse within the cult. For its part, the headquarters of each country will support congregations where alleged episodes of sexual assault occur on a minor.

The denunciation to the security forces, nevertheless, is not mentioned in the memorandum sent to the groups of the British Isles. It is only mentioned in the case that the minor is in danger or reserves this right to the parents, if they see it pertinent, or to the legal department of the witnesses.

Abuses in Spain

The Witnesses winter school will be held from Monday to Friday in Sant Quirze del Vallès. The sessions will coincide with new actions of the group AbusosTJ campaign, a group of people who provide coverage and support to former members of the cult who have reported sexual abuse in congregations in Spain.

The citizen group has requested protection from the Justice Committee of the Congress of Deputies , has opened a helpline and resolution of doubts and has demanded that the national headquarters of the Witnesses in Ajalvir (Madrid) declassify and deliver the files of their cases , since the procedure of the religious group obliges to record and keep the documents of the internal investigations.
